Discussion: Lay Practice, Monastic Practice, and Your Practice: 2011 September 23

The discussion on Friday 2011 September 23, 7pm – 8:50pm, will be facilitated by Andrew.

The subject of the discussion will be “Lay Practice, Monastic Practice, and Your Practice”.

The suttas often present a picture of a Buddhist community neatly divided into lay people and monastics, and teachings that reflect this
division. But modern Buddhist practice in the USA can often involve roaming along both sides of this divide. In this discussion Andrew hopes we can explore how we, our goals, and our practices all fit into this classification, and how the division between between lay and monastic should inform our practice and goals.

In preparation for the discussion, Andrew would like to ask everyone to think about what their life goals are, both spiritual and otherwise.
